SO WHY McFARLAND, CALIFORNIA?
The story of CrossPointe Baptist Church of McFarland begins with a story... The true story of the popular Disney movie McFarland USA.
Since its release on February 20, 2015, God's favor and blessings allowed Pastor Bobby Sharp to build strong relationships with key figures of the cast from the movie, city leaders, school officials and unprecedented access into the McFarland Schools.
Through these relationships and ministry opportunities the Lord Jesus Christ was preparing and calling the Sharp family to the people of McFarland, California.
THE BEGINNING
CrossPointe is the result of the church-planting ministry of Sonrise Baptist Church of Clovis, California (our sending church), where Bobby served as Associate Pastor of Outreach / Evangelism / Community Relations.
In June 2016, God opened the door for their family to move from the Fresno/Clovis area to the City of McFarland (85 miles South) to begin ministering and plant a local Bible-believing Baptist church in this agriculturally rich and predominantly Spanish speaking community.
CrossPointe was founded on December 7, 2016 as a Wednesday evening Bible study with 12 people in attendance. Over the next nine months the attendance quickly grew to over 30 on a weekly basis with a high of 52 people. On August 27, 2017 CrossPointe held its first Sunday morning worship service with 33 people in attendance. Four weeks later on Sunday, September 17, 2017 CrossPointe held its Grand Opening and City-Wide Launch with 160 people welcoming this new church-plant into the McFarland community and celebrating this milestone moment.
